Carry It Along
So for another wild adventure I went from Louisville to Chicago for a day and then back to Louisville and off to Dallas. I drove to Chicago straight after I got off work and was housed by the lovely Kyeo whom I hadn't seen in years since she's graduated! It was great to catch up and talk but I didn't stay long enough to get to do much with her, so next time I will definitely do so. I went to Chicago to go see Ta-Ku. Yes, I drove 5 hours just to go see one show for one day and then come home. Ta-Ku primarily does shows on the west coast though, or in Australia. I have access to neither of those for a cheap cost so I seized this moment. I was fortunate enough to hang around long enough to actually meet Masego, Wafia and the main man himself Regan or better known as Ta-Ku. It was a great show and I went solo but there's nothing wrong with that. Y'all, if I love an artist enough and they're coming? Bet I'm going with or without someone.
As soon as I got back to Louisville and worked my shifts, Reena came to Louisville for the very first time. I only got a day with her but it was a well spent day playing with puppies, good breakfast food and bookstore shenanigans and finishing it off with sushi. Reena is one of my most precious friends that although we don't talk very often, she's one of the few people who understand me. Tender hearted with good intentions but with shit luck from the world. Thanks for the Klimt journal reens. I'll think of you when I write in it each time. See you soon.
So this was a huge moment for me, after my day with Reens, the day afterwards I left for Texas after my chemistry exams to go see Porter Robinson and Madeon in Texas. This though, was different. Mingi joined me because what else do adventure buddies/best friends do? BUT. Mingi got his flight cancelled because of Hurricane Matthews. Pretty much all of the flights at that point were cancelled out in Orlando. It was fucking insane. Mingi camped out at the airport at 3:30AM on Thursday morning on standby to try and catch a flight to Dallas. My best friend y'all. Dedication. Kudos to Teddy for staying up with him and talking to him because I passed out. After my arrival and was greeted by a bag of In n' Out (tenks Teddy) we got food and coffee at Cafe Brazil and hung out until around 4AM. Everything went by so quick honestly.
For that Friday, we went out to Gen to eat KBBQ and then proceeded to Round 1 and play arcade games together until it was time for the show. The show was absolutely insane. It was so crowded and packed together there was almost nowhere to go. The DJ set after the show though, was wild and amazing. They had such an amazing show I honestly really don't have words to explain how great it was or how many feelings I felt in that moment.
Saturday was the day we were set to leave, we all went out to eat our final meal at the Mint and just talk and hang out. I know it's not our final meal, because I know we're coming back. I just don't know when yet. I'd like to thank everyone who came out to hang out with us and make us feel welcome the way we did. My biggest thank you is especially to Ted for being the worlds greatest ho(e)st and making this the best brief trip I've ever gone on and housing us and just making this overall just amazing. I'm so glad to have shared this moment with you. Soon.
